Having decided to select the fastest times of the two nights of the Boylesports Irish Derby, Scooby Princess picked herself from Friday with a 29.40 run. (Though the biggest talking point on the night was Champion Stakes winner De Machine ‘leaning’ on the run in).
Saturday night saw the highly rated pair Ballymac Ariel and Explosive Boy win their heats in identical times.
Last Sunday saw the final of the Irish Sprint Cup which went in fine style to Good Cody, who, along with Deadly Destroyer and Explosive Boy in particular, continue to frank the Produce Stakes form.
Among the exceptional runs that might have slipped below your radar this week, few are more prominent than March 20 pup Gizmo Cash who set the fastest sprint at Newbridge in 11 months.
Last, but certainly not least, an incredible run on debut Magical Mary. Pat Guilfoyle’s March puppy was backed to 2-7, and won by 14 in 28.10 for the Limerick 525 – a time only bettered by the brilliant Explosive Boy this year (28.08). For those who follow their breeding, her mum is a litter sister to Magical Bale.
