Shelbourne’s Gold Cup is by far the biggest event on the Irish horizon at present and Saturday’s semi finals provide our two Dublin nominations in the brilliant pup Ballymac Inspeed and the seasoned campaigner Run Happy.
The ‘Springwell’ prefix have been associated with Mullingar for decades so the victory by Springwell Mouse in the 550 local Derby seems very much like a local win.
Challenging Ballymac Inspeed for the performance of the week is Swanley Bale with an impressive 28.05 run at Drumbo Park. Leeview Jet’s track record stands at 27.88.
Overall, the calendar is still quite threadbare as several tracks continue to race just once a week.
