Tralee staged the opening round of the Eric Browne Memorial Kingdom Derby where Pet Guilfoyle’s Daleroad Duke stepped up on his 28.04 trial to set a new 525 yard track record of 27.92 (see pic below).
The previous clock was held by Ballinabola Ed at 28.03. Great credit to all connections, and of course the Tralee track staff!
Having been the shock of the night when beaten at 2-7 on the Night Of Stars, Ballymac Katie put matter right with an 18 length 59.83 win over Shelbourne’s 1,025 yard course on Saturday night. Terrific Intent landed the other qualifier in a competitive 59.93. Boylesports Coco won the quickest heat of the Christmas Oaks on the same card.
