Kilara Icon – fourth in Saturday’s Boylesports Irish Derby Final – has arrived at Peter Harnden’s Salacres Kennel.

Harnden said: “Icon has arrived at Salacres in great shape; a credit to the work that Robert has put into him. Brian Kennedy breeds some excellent dogs and Icon is one I’ve followed closely for some time. Nottingham should play to his strengths perfectly and will hopefully go well for Gary (Hicks) who is a huge supporter of the sport.

“He will be marked up and qualified in time to take his place. Obviously it’s a little bit ‘last minute’ but I’m told he’s a very straight forward dog who thrives on his work so hopefully heading straight from one big competition to another shouldn’t prove to be too much of an issue”.

Hicks said: “As soon as the travel restrictions between UK and Ireland wer going to play a part in Irish trainers travelling then I made the decision to ask Peter Harnden if he would look after Icon for the duration of the English Derby if Icon was in a position to do himself justice. Peter is well respected in the industry and he is very close to the circuit which is a real bonus. Icon is a competition dog and he will thrive throughout a competition so lets hope he goes deep into this Derby.”
