Honest John reversed heat form with Corley Ace to land the final of the Coors Lite British Bred Final over 500 metres at Nottingham on Monday.

Richard Yeates’ son of Kinloch Brae and former Oaks winner Freedom Emma, was soon in front and although pressed for most of the race by the favourite Corley Ace, he pulled clear on the run-in to score by just over three lengths in 29.98sec.

The best time of the night over the standard 500 metre trip was recorded by Quiz Book.

Carol Weatherall’s runner tracked the pace-making La Maquina into the back straight before going clear form the third turn and beating that rival by almost three lengths in 29.76sec.

Global Chariot went quickest in the Betfred Maiden Trophy over 480 metres.

Andy Griffiths’ runner was soon in front and held the persistent challenge of Wicky John by a length and a half in 29.05sec.

Paul Sallis’s Klockwork Konk led from the first turn in heat one to score easily in 29.15sec, while Greek Legend landed a scrappy second qualifier in 29.40sec.

Ken Bebbington’s prolific winner Moss Lane Sue overcame an absence of almost a month in the 680 metre contest to pull clear off the second turn and beat Droopys Alberta by four and a half lengths in 42.15sec.

Dave Firmager’s Romeo Zulu with 30.17sec was fastest over 500 metres in trials before racing.

Former Graham Holland trained Hovex Prince clocked 17.85sec over 305 metres.
