Another fantastic set of greyhounds offered up for auction this weekend by the team at Greyhound Trader.  Open and competition class prospects who are sure to attract plenty of attention during the weekend auction running from 6pm Friday until the same time this Sunday.  Jame Corden of Greyhound Trader said “Once again an extremely high quality line up for our online sale.  We’ve taken the decision to increase the offering to 25 as the demand for slots has yet again been so high.  There were 59 entered and I can only apologise to those who have on this occasion missed out”.  As usual Mark Pierrepont casts his expert eye over the line up –

BALLYMAC SALLSA – Unraced June 2022 bitch pup by one of the most promising stud dogs around Ballymac Cashout and out of Killeacle Sansa who is a full sister to the likes of Killeacle Gus a finalist in the 2020 Sussex Cup Final and Buttsys Blackie an open race winner at both Shelbourne Park and Towcester where he also reached the final of the KAB Maiden Derby in 2021.  Sansa has produced some pacey performers in her litters to date and this litter have been showing immense promise at home with Sallsa putting up a promising 2988 on her first and so far only trial on the card around Tralee.
MBAPPE – Competition class prospect from the very top drawer but given his breeding that’s far from unexpected.  A son of the mighty Droopys Sydney and the open and competition class producing dam Limini (mother of Jackslittlething 2021 Champion Stakes Winner , 3rd Irish Derby Final 2021 and one of the fastest greyhounds to ever grace Shelbourne Park amongst others) Mbappe set the track alight on debut at Shelbourne recently with a stunning come from behind performance winning by an ever increasing 3 lengths in 2879.  Very much a stayer in the making this lad can do nothing but improve and looks another from the Matthews team who could become a leading player in the months to come in any competition which he lines up.  He’ll not come cheaply but if it’s a quality operator you’re looking to add to your team then he could be the one for you.
BALLYMAC SANSAID – Unraced June 2022 dog pup and a full brother to Sallsa detailed above.  This young lad has been showing plenty of pace at home and had the measure of his sister in the only trial on his card by 2 ½ lengths which saw him crossing the finish line in 2971.  As with all pups hailing from the famed Ballymac academy he has received nothing but the very best until this stage in his life.  Fully expected to make into a very nice type.
BALLYMAC WYLDER – Unraced June 2022 dog pup by the superstar Ballymac Wild and out of Ballymac Petula an unraced full sister to the superstar performer Ballymac Finn.  Petula was kept specifically for breeding but showed she possessed plenty of ability with a wide margin 2958 trial at Tralee in what was the only four bend run of her life.  Wylder was expected to put up a good time when taken to the track for his first ever trial and he didn’t disappoint with his only rival beaten off by 3 lengths in 2955.  Such a time indicates that he’s an above average sort and a career in open class very much looks on the agenda.
BALLYMAC DALTON – Unraced June 2022 dog pup by Ballymac Kingdom and out of Jamaica Joy a top-grade Shelbourne Park performer who is now a well proven producer of open class greyhounds and of course the mother of non-other than Ballymac Marino the Juvenile Classic winner at Tralee earlier this year who latterly went on to set tongues wagging with a number of high class performances around Towcester during this year’s Derby.  Lightly schooled thus far Dalton stopped the clock in 2970 at Tralee first time over four bends.  Plenty to come from this lad who can do nothing but improve for experience and looks sure to prove a very welcome addition to which ever kennel he ends up.
BALLYMAC LEONA – Unraced June 2022 bitch pup by Ballymac Cashout and from the strong running News Headlines who of course is a daughter of the super brood Toms Delight.  Recorded 2960 at Tralee in the only trial on her card and given her breeding may not come into her own until facing sterner tests of stamina once fully matured.
BALLYMAC DELI – Unraced January 2022 bitch pup by Ballymac Cashout and from the maiden litter of Murleys Ellie who was an open class performer on the track and looks a very interesting recruit to the breeding paddocks.  Deli has just two trials on the card recording 3013 at Tralee in the first of those.  Should improve for a good while to come both for fitness and experience and looks sure to go through the grades for her new owner.
PROUD MECURIAL – April 2021 son of Ballymac Best who has 3 wins on the card already in his short career.  Posted 2882 in the semi-final of the Time Greyhound Nutrition Graders Derby semi-final when going well clear only to be reeled in on the run for home to finish second.  A subsequent third place finish in the final where he once again showed great pace followed but there is no doubt at all he will be well suited by a step down in distance.  Tracks in the UK such as Romford and anything up to around 450m – 460m should see him mopping up opens for fun.
MODUS OPERANDI – November 2021 bitch pup by Pestana out of Suirview Kea who has made a perfect start to her racing career with two dominant early paced winning performances.  Winning on debut around Waterford in 2971 she followed that up a couple of weeks later with an even better 2949 at Clonmel off a rapid 287 split.  See’s out the 480m well enough and will win races over most four bend trips here in England but no doubt she would benefit from a small step back in trip with the likes of Romford sure to play to her strengths.
ROAMING FIVE OH – Unraced April 2022 dog pup who looks to have the pace to match his looks.  A stunning fawn greyhound this son of Droopys Noah and Droopys Flavour has just the one trial on his card where he posted a hugely promising 2959 at Cork.  His dam Flavour is a proven producer of open class greyhounds and Five Oh very much looks like maturing into a high-class individual.
COPPEEN BEST – August 2021 youngster who is very much one for the open scene.  Highlighted his potential with a 2928 at Cork on career debut back in April and after knocking on the door since with some strong running efforts he gained his second career win just a couple of weeks ago with a come from behind 2874 effort again at Cork.  Crowded early he had to show huge guts to get himself into a challenging position.  Coming from a good few lengths off the pace he showed huge tenacity to get up right on the line before pulling further and further clear to the pick-up.  Looks all set to compete at the highest open race level once stepped up to six bends.
STONEPARK JIM – What a performance this August 2021 son of Ballymac Best and Stonepark Annie put up when winning in a fantastic 2877 at Limerick on career debut just last month.  An open class prospect of the highest order who has since ran a stormer in defeat recording 1918 around Shelbourne Park despite being stopped to a near walk when squeezed for room at the first bend.  Pace to burn and will be winning open races over a variety of trips.
ELA MAESTRO (ex – Honey Sydney) – October 2021 dog pup and a competition class prospect right from the very top drawer.  With 2 victories from just 4 races including a sensational 2833 at Shelbourne Park on his last start when beating off his nearest rival by fully 8 lengths.  On that occasion Maestro didn’t lead until way along the back straight however from that point home he really began to open up pulling further and further clear with every passing stride.  With improvement to come there is absolutely no ceiling on how far this talented sort can go and he looks sure to attract plenty of attention in the sale with many likely to be keen to add him to their string.
JOCKOVIC – Unraced November 2021 dog pup by Broadstrand Bono out of Droopys Havana an unraced bitch related to far too many open and competition class performers to mention.  Havana herself has produced high grade and open class in her litters to date but the word is that this litter to Bono have been showing signs that they could be the best yet.  The one trial on the card of Jockovic to date saw him beat off his sole rival by 7 lengths in 2937 around Clonmel and with months of improvement yet to come he falls firmly into the could be anything category.
PARKVIEW MILLIE – August 2021 bitch pup with just the two races on her card including a really promising effort in defeat on career debut.  Finishing third behind a super 2873 winner she was very much far from disgraced.  No luck in running on her second start but has since posted 2908 in a trial at Limerick.  A member of the Pestana x Clonbrien Millie litter making her a full sister to this year’s Con & Anne Kirby Memorial Champion Clonbrien Treaty which will no doubt appeal to those not only looking for a quality racing bitch but also a lady who could very well prove popular as a brood further down the line.
TROMORA RONALDO – April 2022 dog pup who has the sky as his limit based upon a sensational 2899 winning effort on what was his career debut and so far only race on his card at Limerick just last Saturday.  A member of the maiden litter of Tromora Champion this lad looks like making into a competition class performer.  Still green in his running he should improve for a good time to come.
MONTANA ANGEL – February 2022 bitch pup who at just the second time of asking ran out an impressive 2927 winner around Cork just last week.  Dam Montana Breeze is a daughter of Droopys Loner making her a close sibling of many open and competition class greyhounds.  Angel should improve for a long time into the future and looks set to enjoy a high-class track career before quite possibly embarking on a brood career of her own.
MENDELSON – Greyhounds of this class don’t come onto the market too often and there will be many looking to add him to their strings.  A finalist in the Produce Stakes at Clonmel just last month he already has 3 wins on his card including 2850 at Limerick and a super run of 3003 over Cork’s 550 yards.  A half-brother of the superstar Priceless Jet stamina should be no issue to this lad and he looks sure make into a classy and versatile sort.
ROSEVILLE FREDDY – September 2021 dog pup who learnt much from his June debut to run out an impressive winner of his next two starts at Waterford this month.  A half-brother of 2022 Select Stakes Finalist Lisnakill Vernon he looks like he should make into a nice top-grade performer himself and with a little luck maybe even a bit better than that.  A good attitude to racing and sure to recoup his purchase price before too long.
MELODYS SYD –  September 2021 dog who won over 570y at Tralee last week in an exceptional 3071. Running on very strongly in his races to date, Syd looks to have all the characteristics of a dog who would perform well over 500m+. No doubt a dog for those wanting to compete in the major Category One competitions.
MELODYS GLORY –  full-brother to Melodys Syd but one who looks to have the opposite capabilities. Glory is all about early pace and his 298 sectional when winning in 2870 at Tralee is as good as ever seen around the venue. This could be the perfect dog for someone after a Romford/Oxford type to compete on the regular Friday night Open cards.
ANGRY GRANDAD –  March 2021 dog by Ballymac Best who has been lighting up the track in recent weeks in Dundalk. A winner of his first round heat of the Bar One National Sprint in 2037, Grandad possesses the key early pace required to win many of races. Looking further back in his form, SPK wins of 2831 and 2836 makes this dog of the highest of quality. Ready-made Open class sort who will look to hit the ground running straight away in the UK.
SALLAGH FINN –  Unraced November 2021 Droopys Sydney dog who qualified in ON1 time after a recent 1917 sprint at Mullingar. One of those who falls in the ‘could be anything category’, it is worth noting that his siblings have impressed at SPK in the last week when competing in the competitive ON1 stake.
GAP YEAR –  January 2022 baby who’s only mark to his name is 1941 at SPK. Highly regarded at the home of Brendan Matthews who has sold plenty of high-class greyhounds in the past, this is one who could be worth taking a chance on with only more improvement to be found.
HAWKFIELD DIEGO / SAVA –  Auctioned are brother and sister Diego and Sava to be sold as a pair. Diego (dog) has run 12 times to date and placed in 7 of these. Times of 2890 and 2891 at Newbridge highlight his obvious class. Sister Sava hasn’t fared as well in her races but a 2930 trial around the same venue just last month suggests she isn’t too far behind her sibling. These two represent great value for a graded kennel in need of two ready-to-race greyhounds.
