Scolari Sound and Laughing Gravy gave David Pruhs a double in the heats of the Stadium Bookmakers National Sprint over 305 metres at Nottingham on Monday.

Scolari Sound, the 5-4 favourite, made it four wins from his last five races at the track when pulling clear from the opening turn to repel Ballybee Brewery by almost three lengths in 17.50sec, the fastest time of the night.

2014 Romford Puppy Cup winner Laughing Gravy (4-5) caught Charlie Lister’s long-time leader Cloncunny Ardera close home in the last qualifier to score by a short head in 17.70sec.

Lister had earlier scored with track specialist Sidarian Bullet (6-4), who lived up to his name out of the traps in heat four when he beating Holden Jet by a length and a half in 17.65sec.

Comrades All (5-2) took an early lead in heat five before running right off the second turn. He came again to beat Stanton Stream by a short head in 17.96sec.

Walshes Hill made hard work of landing the opening qualifier.

Jimmy Wright’s 4-6 favourite flew out of the boxes but was joined at the turn by Mac Foiche, who took up the running. However Walshes Hill came again on the run-in to get up close home and score by half a length in 17.71sec. Worryingly he took a tumble on the way to the pick-up.

Nick Savva’s Barrow Rumble was a shock 14-1 winner of the second qualifier when he led off the second turn to beat veteran Lemon Pluto by a length in 17.67sec.

Draw to be made at the GBGB on Tuesday.

Calzaghe Otoole was a 6-1 winner of the Stadium Bookmakers Maiden Puppy Final over 480 metres.

Ted Soppitt’s runner flew out of the boxes and was soon well clear. He went on to hold the unlucky Oscar Whisky by half a length in 28.85sec.
