Wimbledon’s homefinders have been swelling their coffers courtesy of the All England Club.

Trustee Norah McEllstrim said: “We took along a couple of greyhounds to raise funds outside the admissions gate last year and were given permission to return. Apparently, the greyhounds are quite popular with the people at the club and tennis enthusiasts are, along with horseracing people, the most generous group of all.

“They actually raised £720 on the first day and are back again today. They’ve even had some special jackets made to fit the dogs including one with the wording ‘Faster than Federer” and another that reads ‘Serener Than Serena”
