British breeding really is beginning to take off again in recent months.  Hot on the heels of last weeks BGBF British Bred Northern Plate at Newcastle comes the BGBF / Nottingham British Breeders stakes.  Entries are set to close at 11am on Thursday morning and the racing office can be contacted from 930am onward on 01159103331.  The competition has been won in recent years by the likes of Adageo Bob (2013) , Swansalona Diva (2014) , Eden The Kid (2015) and not forgetting last years winner the Angie Kibble trained Let Me Tell You.  The competition once again promises to be a highlight of the British Bred calendar and is sure to throw up some terrific racing over the next few weeks.  The category one event is worth £7500 to the winner with the heats taking place on Monday 7th October , semi finals Monday 14th October and the final itself Monday 21st October.  Runner up in the final will receive £1000 whilst losing finalists will each receive £500.  The breeder of the winning greyhound will receive £500 whilst breeders of losing finalists will each receive £200.  The competition as usual with British Bred events is open to ALL GREYHOUNDS BORN AND EAR MARKED IN BRITAIN.

Track director Nathan Corden told the Star “It’s fabulous to be working with the BGBF once more.  The event is very much established in the British Breeding calendar with this being the events 10th birthday.  Some great greyhounds have won the competition over the years , the likes of Eden The Kid , Adageo Bob and Romeo Recruit to name just three.  We are expecting a very competitive event for this years renewal with a good number of high class British Bred greyhounds on the scene.  Entries are starting to come in , the most notable to date being the Jill Sutherst trained Witton Derecho.  Connections will no doubt be hoping to complete a quick double after running out an emphatic winner of the British Bred Northern Plate at Newcastle last week.  The bitch looks a class act and trialled around here in 2958 (+60) on Monday.  That’s some run from a bitch for her first look and she appeared to handle the track effortlessly”.

Chair of the BGBF , Liz Mort said “It’s absolutely fantastic to see British Breeding in such a healthy place.  I was delighted to attend Newcastle for the final of the inaugural BGBF British Bred Northern Plate last week , the team at Newcastle did a tremendous job throughout and i’m sure that particular competition will come to be as cemented into the British Bred calendar as the Breeders Stakes is at Nottingham.  Rachel and Nathan Corden are an absolute pleasure to work with , they cannot do enough to support us and recognise the importance of a healthy British Bred scene in the sport.  I am genuinely looking forward to what should be a brilliant competition”.
