Predictably Eden The Kid set the standard in the opening round of the British Breeders Stakes over 500 metres at Nottingham on Monday writes Jason Craddock.

The Derby third and Wimbledon record holder, a 2-7 shot for the second qualifier, missed the kick but went second at the opening bend behind early leader Klockwork Konk.

Eden The Kid flew down the far side and hit the front at halfway to eventually beat a running on Honest John by just over five lengths in 29.37sec.

Swindon Produce Stakes winner Fabulous Expert and Brighton Belle finalist Fabulous Milan gave Dave Firmager a double by landing heats one and three.

Fabulus Expert (4-11) hit the front from the opening turn and went on to hold Dannythechampion by almost two lengths in 29.86sec.

The son of Droopys Scoari went clear from the turn to eventually beat Haydeezhero by just over a length in 17.75sec.

Ballybee Brewery, one of the leading sprinters in training, landed the supporting two bend race by pulling clear form the opening turn to beat Creamery Tower in 17.72sec.

Charlie Lister’s Rafas Wee Jet was a trap to line winner of the top 500 metre all-age race when beating La Maqina by almost four lengths in 29.71sec.
