Bubbly Express (Kinloch Brae-Truly A Lady, Jan 15), the artist formerly known as Truly A Legend landed his first race for new connections, a trialstake of the British Breeders Stakes at Nottingham on Monday night.

The former Russ Warren trained black, who only just missed out on a place in the Puppy Classic Final before joining Paul Young, was running from trap one and was 6-4jf with Bang On Giles (T3). Others to look out for is Geelo Onsie (T6 6-1) and the right-swerving Barney Rubble (T2 6-1).

The winning time was 30.08 and the distances, a length and three and three-quarters back to Lowgate Ginny in third.

There was better luck for Team Simmonds in the other trialstake which went to Giles’ litter sister Bang On Ella (Kinloch Brae-Tyrur Alice, Apr 14). A 4-1 shot from trap three, the market was headed by Romeo Network (T2 5-2f). The winner’s time was 29.93 for the 500m and the distance was a length and a half.

The British Breeders Stakes is a 36 runner event which gets underway next Monday and concludes with a live SKY meeting on October 25. Entries close at 11am THIS THURSDAY October 6
