Newcastle expects to be back to full strength on Saturday night as Craig Dawson awaits the green light to lift the quarantine that his kennel has been under following a bout of sickness. The Hawick-based trainer reports that there have been no new cases in the kennel for almost a week and he is looking forward to getting under orders again.

“Things have been back to normal for several days now and we have had no fresh cases of the sickness since last Thursday,” says Dawson, who was forced to shut up shop before racing last Saturday. “The vet will be coming to the kennel tomorrow (Wednesday) and I am sure that get the go-ahead to have our first runners back on Saturday’s card.”

And that is good news for racing manager Paul Twinn, who looked forward to the imminent return by saying: “It has not been easy for Craig and his team and I will be very happy to have them back for Saturday as we have the usual two cards to fill.”
