Poole racing manager Ian Sillence is confident of a decent entry to the forthcoming Golden Crest which closes on Friday.

He said: “We often struggle to get ‘away’ entries here has been plenty of interest already.

“The Keightley’s have been here at least three times with triallers. Roxholme Kid has done 26.70 (450m), ‘Ted’ has gone even quicker, 26.58, and Suzy has a 26.85.

“There is another group to trial tonight (Tuesday) including four from Norah McEllistrim, Goes Hot from Heather Dimmock, four from Paul Young’s kennel, two from Ben McBride and Kippers Usain from Chris Allsopp.

“We also have own good quality runners including Aimnfire, Cabra Scooby and Boozed Miranda likey to go for it. I think it could be the best competition we have had around here in a while.”

The £4,000 to winner Crest gets underway next Tuesday (March 24) with the semis a week later and the final on Saturday April 4.

There are supporting opens on both semis (250m, 640m) and final night (250m, 450m, 640m, 840m).
