The kennel might have won it with ‘the wrong one’ but the ARC Classic Final was destined for Alnwick after an exciting three-way tussle on Thursday night.

Jimmy Wright had predicted that Moanteen Mikey (T6) could take full advantage or a fast break with kennelmate Move Over Cha (T3) likely to struggle to seize the inside run. This is what happened . . .

Jimmy said: “Cha came away but Mikey missed it. After that I thought Mikey ran on really well for a front runner and only really faded in the last few metres.”

A great run too from the five, who might have gone closer had he been drawn on the inside of the winner?

“He ran a great race” said Jimmy. “The only thing that is worth remember though is that Move Over Cha is a very jealous dog. He showed a Monmore that he can find a bit more if he is challenged.”

Moanteen Mikey – beaten favourite for a second year in a row – will get his chance at revenge in the forthcoming PGR All England Cup worth a record £20K and due to commence on Tuesday December 13.

Jimmy said: “I would expect both of these to be involved. We haven’t decided yet who we will have in it, but it will be at least three or four.”

Should Move Over Cha prevail, it would make him a serious contender for Newcomer of the Year having already landed two Cat One competitions in 2022.
