A heads up from former GRA senior racing manager Bob Rowe concerning a film that is appearing on SKY’s Talking Pictures Channel (328) on Boxing Day.

It is the famous old British film The Blue Lamp, starring a young Dirk Bogard. The plot of the film isn’t important other than it includes some major scenes taken at London White City. Considering, the film was made in 1949, it could probably be considered the ultimate place at the peak of greyhound racing in Britain.

Viewers of a certain vintage may recognise Ginger Lee, who worked at Harringay and also as Bob’s assistant at White City. You can also hear the voice of Bob’s predecessor in the job, the famous Major Percy Brown.
