Droopys Streak can put a smile back on the face of Fraser Black in the second round of the Healthcare & Transport Puppy Oaks over 525 yards at Shelbourne Park on Saturday.

Black must have thought his Save The Don was going to win last week’s Scottish Derby after he went into a clear lead only to go lame.

However in Droopys Streak he has a potential Oaks winner and she set the standard last week’s heats when scoring in 28.47sec.

She comes up against two other heats winners in Jumeirah Dancer, who did 28.77sec and Skywalker Pearl who clocked 28.61sec but they occupy the inside two boxes and may not do each other any favours while Droopys Streak can sweep around the outside.

Yahoo Pearlena, up for sale in the Racing Post, is fancied to seize the final heat. Peter Cronin’s runner won her heat in 28.81sec and is expected to quickly assume command.

Coolavanny Slip and Rural Maui look the main threats.

Pat Buckley’s Coolavanny Slip, ran on well after early trouble last week and will be dangerous if turning handier, while Rural Maui clocked 28.60sec a few races ago.

Ballymac Shirley is the fancy in the third qualifier. Liam Dowling’s bitch found plenty of trouble last week but has a 28.62sec on her card from Tralee and a 28.82sec at Shelbourne, which should be good enough.

The last eliminator looks a match between litter sisters Ballydoyle Honey and Badminton Maid.

Clonmel Open Unraced winner Ballydoyle Honey, who wasn’t far behind Droopys Streak last week, can have too much finishing speed for her sister, who landed the recent Newbridge Open Unraced Bitch Stake in a fast 28.44sec.
