PATCHYS KERRY– Paul Young

Another who reached the puppy final at Romford. She has lots of ability but is taking on some more experienced four bend runners. She trialled well but lacks a bit of early pace. I expect a big run out of her but her future is probably over further.

DROOPYS ONTARIO – Dean Childs

Ontario is a very young and still a bit green. She went to Monmore for the Puppy Derby but struggled to get a run from a wide draw. We think a lot of her and she doesn’t lack speed though it is definitely true that she lacks experience.

SWIFT LEONARD – Kevin Hutton

If the puppy race had been over 480m, we wouldn’t have run Swift Leonard. He is one of the youngest in the race. He didn’t really take to Towcester but went very well in his trial (28.95). He is a cracking young dog but it is a big ask for a pup with three races on his card.

SOUTHFIELD JOCK – Seamus Cahill

I think a lot of this pup and given any luck he could make into a top class dog. I don’t know why they decided to put the puppy race over the 500 metres, the 480 would have been better. I do have some concerns about him seeing out the trip, though the long run to the bend will work in his favour.

EAGLE WAY – John Mullins

Another who would have to lead and to be honest I can’t see it happening. He might also struggle to see out the 500. It is a decent class puppy race and in all honesty, Eagle Way is a top heat grader at Yarmouth. Another of my lesser chances.

SWIFT WHIRLWIND – Mark Wallis

I didn’t send him to Monmore for the Puppy Derby because he wasn’t quite ready. But he has won his last four at Towcester including beating Ballymac Brogan. Southfield Jock looks the big danger but this is a good pup and irrespective of the result, I think you will be hearing a lot more about Whirlwind later in the year.
