Kinsley’s Owners and Trainers Association is in sight of a significant milestone with the 125th ex-racer due to be homed within the last twelve months.

In addition to its association with Kath Armitage (West Yorkshire RGT, Clare Yapp (Humber RGT), Fenbank Greyhound Sanctuary and Hull Greyhound Rescue, KOATA has been nurturing its own re-homing efforts via Tommy Siddall and Abbey Green.

KOATA chairman Mark Siddall said: “The rehoming kennels are at Goldthorpe, Rotherham and can house eight greyhounds at any one time in a new kennel block.

“Tommy takes responsibility for the dogs after they have been to the vets for neutering.

“Abbey, who is Tommy’s girlfriend, does a lot of the work assessing the greyhounds before their placement.

“She has only been involved with greyhounds for two years but her attitude and determination in believing there is a home out there for every retired greyhound is more than admirable.

“It is great to see youngsters with such enthusiasm for our sport and surely have great futures.

“The next 12 months will hopefully see us heading towards the 200 mark thanks to the efforts off all those involved.”

Mildenhall continues to see great crowds on its one night a week Friday meeting with the promotions team working hard to keep attendances up writes Mark Newberry.

As things stand the MOTA committee are finalising a meeting date with the promoter to seek his views and plans on the future of the stadium along with understanding its approach to its recent loss in the court room.

We are aware that the promoter is working up plans and a strategy to seek the support of the stadium users and greyhound and motor sports fans country wide to support RDC promotions in taking its fight to the European courts. As ever the uncertainty has seen it a struggle to increase the kennel strength with the promoter acknowledging this and increasing run money by £5 per runner to £20 run money.
