Defending champion Troy Bella was surprisingly eliminated from the Scurry Cup when finishing last in his heat.
David Mullin’s dog didn’t break in his best fashion and ran into early trouble. The race went to Angela Harrison’s Droopys Reel, who led off the opening turn to hold Beaming Mix Up by a length in 15.18sec.
Mullins had better luck with Wall Garden in heat three, who was a shock 10-1 winner when holding Pull The Trigger by a length and a half in 15.08sec, the fastest time of the night.
Julie Bateson’s Tree Top Jet got first run on main rival Geelo Brezza in the opening qualifier when scoring by a length and a quarter in 15.14sec.
John Thompson’s Mydras Tipp was another surprise 7-1 winner of the last qualifier which saw the demise of hot favourite Tullig Irish.
The son of Abbeyville Tipp avoided trouble to lead at halfway and beat Hello Pebble by a length in 15.35sec
