WHAT A CONTEST!!

Nowhere has the Tipster Challenge proved more lucrative or exciting than at Sheffield. For September we upped the ante by keeping track of the profits and losses of each tipster at each meeting and nowhere was that more relevant than at Owlerton.

Prior to the month, Carl Perry had been consistently the most successful tipster. Glynn Dobbs had been more ‘Everton that Liverpool’ and then we had a last minute upstart who came off the bench as a reserve, Rob Crawford.

After nine meetings, Carl’s crown had slipped. Despite a 16-1 each way punt on the Three Steps runner-up, he finished the month on -£65.69. But the real contest was between Glynn and Rob. Both had six winning meetings and three losers, but when the pounds were calculated, Glynn finished on £1,112.50 profit, Rob ended up with a profit of £1,370.

Brilliant effort guys – it made all the hard work worthwhile!

More good news – the Newcastle Tipster Challenge is over! In fact, it wasn’t so much a challenge as a race to the bottom and all three seemed determined to get there. The third biggest loser with a figure of -£385.73 was Jock Jimmy Wright. Worse still with a figure of -£403.39, Geordie Jimmy Fenwick. But for a whole new level of low, we tip our tipster’s hats to Steve ‘-£100’ Anderson with a net loss of -£450.

SUNDERLAND

The last meeting at Sunderland for the month (yes, cock-up at this end, thinking last Wednesday was the decider). Nothing has changed though, it gave Suuuuupa Sam Linley a chance to extend his winning run. Graham and George both need winning nights to stay in the blue.

Quest (R7 T2) I like the positioning of Quest in the race. She has a very green pup ahead of her running its first race under lights. If she were to repeat her trial of 16.21 in a sprint, I would doubt anything in this race would be able to make up enough ground to catch her in the latter part of the race. £40 win

One for Charlie (R9 T2) still fairly young an inexperienced, has been dropped in grade despite a 27.90 in its penultimate start. He has nothing to find on the clock and a repeat of this run would see him take this one quite comfortably. £60 win
