We kick off with a review of the previous night and an ass kicking performance from Hannah Prince at PERRY BARR.

First time out she went for Longaces Kim (£30 @ 8-11) and Slaneyside Wanda (£70 @ evens) for a net profit of £96.82.

But it was a great team effort. Robert Short went ‘the full pocket’ on Longacres Kim for a £72.73 profit. Paul Gebhard had one winner from three selections but with £30 on a 100-30 winner, he still came out with a £30 profit.

Meanwhile at NEWCASTLE, Jimmy Fenwick is facing a stewards enquiry. After a couple of weeks of looking like a man who couldn’t find a winner if it was stapled to his nose, he has turned into Nostradamus. Another double for the man from Morpeth: Alnwick Domino (£60 @ 6-4) and Deadly Cyclone (£40 @ 5-4).  Net profit £140.

Beyond that Mark Cranston‘s selection finished third in a three-runner photo finish. (Don’t start with your whingeing stories, you sound like Pierrepont – or at least how he sounded when he was losing). As for Jimmy Wright, there is good news and bad news. The good news was a £20 @ 2-1 on Udston Finn. So a net loss of £40.

But Jimmy! Your two big fancies were turned over by their kennelmates. Flapping lads in Scotland will be shaking their heads in disappointment! And word will soon reach Kent!

SO – The day we have all been waiting for – the return of open racing and where better to start than the most popular weekly fixture of them all – ‘Romford Friday’

To celebrate we have a particularly strong team lined up. We went head-to-head last week with Jason Gander recording a £162 profit, while local trainer Nathan Hunt was also in the black to a tune of £20.

Tonight we are pushing the boat out by adding two more particularly shrewd judges. Local owner Paul Binks was one of our most successful tipsters when we ran a similar competition last year. Then there is a guy called Mark Wallis. . .

Readers are reminded that Star Sports are offering a unique sign-up offer for the Owners Club for tonight’s meeting – a matched bet up to £50, via the sign-up link at the bottom of the page

Jason Gander:

Sparta Master (R10 T5) won very impressively on his Towcester debut 2 weeks ago and the step up to 575 will see him in an even better light. He was in sparkling form over the trip last year and clearly has a love for Romford, this isn’t the hardest of races . His main opposition in Desperado Dan hasn’t flown the boxes in his two starts at Central Park so I can seeing this being a comprehensive victory for the current 575 TR holder Any odds against should be mopped up £100 win

Paul Binks:

Nathan Hunt
Bang on Annie (R3 T5) finding one of her flashy breaks can get round the bend handy and show her pace. 23.73 winner a couple of runs back , 9/2 seems a fair price. £40 win.
Have A Brandy (R7 T1), looks well drawn here and a decent trial back. £60 win
Mark Wallis
Have A Brandy (R7 T1) I think we have realistic chances of at least three or four winners tonight but this would be my nap. He needs the run, but is one of those who will probably run very well while he is fresh. I think the race is made for him from trap one. I can see him well placed and moving slightly towards the middle on the run-up. Six looks to be a danger but I think it will move in.  £50 win
Alien Sea (R9 T5) We have three in here but Alien Sea would have to be my best bet. I wouldn’t touch him at odds-on, but at 6-4 or better he would have been an all-in bet. Of our inside pair, Yukan Bridge is running well, Tiffield Maximus will need the run, but they are drawn the wrong way around. I would expect six to lead, but hope Alien Sea is the class dog in the field – in my opinion. If he can stay on terms, he should run on strongly from the third bend. £30 win.
Passing Stranger (R12 T4) We have two in the 750 and I think they are the two to beat. No Can Boogie is the fitter of the two, but if Passing Stranger gets clear, he may have enough to hold on.  £20 win.

NOTTINGHAM

After two winning meetings in a row, Big Mark is struggling to find worthy opponents. After his first effort – which was suitably bigged up – the jury is still out on Alan.

Mark Pierrepont:

Adriknock Amy (R4 T3) Amy reached her 5th birthday in May this year and though she’s obviously not going to be finding anything in the way of improvement she’s still more than capable at this level.  In fact though this race is an A7 on paper it’s nearer an A7 and a half in reality.  Terry Munslow’s bitch doesn’t do anything easily and will need to tread carefully but I fancy this race could be run nicely for her to come through with a strong late challenge and get there when it matters £50 win.
Plaza Lep (R9 T2) There’s no doubt that Lep will improve for the outing tonight on his post lockdown comeback but if he can secure a first bend lead then that should be enough to secure victory.  He’s facing some in form rivals but it’s important to note that Lep’s two four bend comeback trials have both been from the 480m boxes which he runs out of tonight.  An important factor and though some of his rivals can come away they’re facing the challenge of switching from the 500m trip.  I’m taking him to smash out and make all for trainer Lynn Cook and her owners the Construction Lads syndicate £50 win.
