We start the second week on the Challenge and will welcome some new faces – if you fancy getting involved – contact us at [email protected].

Before looking ahead to tonight’s double, a quick recap on our first Central Park meeting featuring Tony Collett, Mark Fenwick and Spencer Mavrias.

Oh Tony, Tony, Tony. . .You were right about one thing. You didn’t have a winner on the night – but that was as a trainer and a tipster! Mark fared slightly better when tipping up his own Ballykevin Sarah for (a mere) £20 @ 9-4. A net loss of £35 on the night.

Shame Mark didn’t have faith in his own boy Ernest. Spencer did! He put up £25 @ 3-1 and another £25 @ 4-1 on Treanaree Lee. Net profit £175

Mark Pierrepont:

Sporting Gemma (R1 T6 ) as come back post lock down in terrific form for Jason Gray and has won on her first two outings both at tonight’s level of A3. She’s got a nice touch of early pace and looks well drawn to put that to good use once again. Can make every post a winning one on the outside of the track £70 win

Swift Whiff (7 T6 ) produced an awesome split of 4.93 when winning last time out. Tonight’s race is full of early pace but that kind of form can see her lead once more and in a race full of front runners that can see her home in front £30 win.

Peter Harnden:

Salacres Manny (R5 T1) is up in grade after winning last time out but remains in good form with himself. H looks drawn for a clear with his rival in t2 almost certain to edge right at trap rise £30 win

Salacres Magnier (R6 T6) Reached the 2019 Puppy Classic Final for us at Nottingham and despite being a big priced outsider, he did us proud to get there. He was bought as a very young pup from Ireland and then reared on by ourselves here. He’s had a few issues since but is gradually finding his best form and ran an eye-catching race in defeat behind our own Forest Mike last time out. He’ll need to break lively but usually does and should take the beating £70 win

YARMOUTH

We welcome back Liam Aspin, fresh from his glorious £225 winning night last week. Liam has chosen two new opponents, Dean Munnings and Kevin Boon.

He says: “Dean is a welcome entry to the tipping competition with a depth of knowledge about greyhound racing. Dean was a finalist in the Betting Shop Manager of the Year, and once stood his own book at a few local tracks. Following Yarmouth is a regular thing for him, as his father, Keith Munnings, recently retired his own trainers license and now has his dogs in the hands of David Prentice.  Kevin, well, he doesn’t need much of an introduction really!

I start tonight with my first of two picks in the 8:47, Barrack Brave (R9 T2). This is a dog for David Carter, who on my first week of covering Yarmouth I napped and he went in rather easily. The race tonight should really fall into his hands again, with no early pace inside or outside of him. He’s clocked 28.80’s on a few occasions and that looks good enough to take this race. £80 win

My final pick of the night goes in the last Quivers Joy (R12 T1). Now at likely big odds I couldn’t let this bitch go without mention. She has in the past clocked 16.42 and 28.18 for the sprint and 4-bend trip. This takes this comfortably. She’s still (although 4 this year) unexposed in terms of her Yarmouth ability. I think she’s had enough runs back from the lockdown period now and may well find enough to win this. The key for her will be clearing the occasionally slow starting Swift Nando the first bend. £20 win

Dean Munnings

Dean has also chosen two dogs for tonight, with the first going in the 7:27, Notouttheway (R5 T2), for John Mullins.  Dean on him said “Hopefully he can lead Trap 1 (Bumblebee Adam) to the corner and confirm the form with Trap 3, which I think is the main danger in the race”. £50 win

Dean’s second selection is in the 9:27, Vigorous Kevin (R11 T1), for Paul Burr.
On his chances Dean said “He looks clear for a clean run down the rails with Trap 2 (Sophies Sparkle) wanting more of a middle pitch. I’m hoping that  he should improve on last weeks short head 2nd”. £50 win

Kevin Boon

It’s a full house of double picks tonight with Kevin’s first going in the 6:47, Somersham Beauty (R3 T5), for David Prentice. Pitched inside slow starting Black Delilah, it should give her a clear run up to the first bend where she needs to negotiate her way to the front early. If doing so, she could take all the beating. £50 win

For Kevin’s second pick of the night, he’s decided to take on Dean in the D1 sprint Black Mystery (R5 T6) for Erica Samuels. This bitch has some seriously fast times on her card and if clearing Trap 5 (Colski Iris) early, has a great chance of adding too her tally. This race is going to be all about what happens at the lids! £50 win
