The Tipping Challenge is a fortnight old and the results have been mixed – as you might expect. You can’t expect every night to be a winner, though even on the bad nights, you would hope that the tipsters would add some insight into their selections.

A good example came on Sunday night at CENTRAL PARK. Last week Spencer Mavrias ran up a £175 profit. This time, he tipped two of his own runners. Both were beaten a short head (2-1, 3-1) with Spencer flagging up the winner of the second leg as the big danger to his selection. Overall though a night to forget. Of the combined eight selections, six of them finished second.

On Saturday, Peter Walker and Ryan Conneely had marginal losing nights at HOVE. At SHEFFIELD, Carl Perry lost a tenner, Conor Wrigglesworth lost the lot on one bet, but Nick Taylor had yet another winning night: £100 @ 2-1 of Geelo Davey for a net win of £200.

Overall, the Sheffield tipsters are in a league of their own. Over the five meetings to date, Nick Taylor would be over £490 in profit, Carl Perry would be £310 in profit with Conor Wrigglesworth has a net loss of £7.

NOTTINGHAM

Don Henley (not the American singer) made a profit on his only previous challenge attempt. Colin Wilton is breaking even after a couple of attempts. Which means the pressure is all on the big lad in the EFC shirt! He can take it.

Mark Pierrepont:

Micks Choice: (R9 T3)  might be approaching his 5th birthday in September but he’s still more than capable at this level of A5.  Regular A3-A4 winner throughout his career he showed himself in good form when landing a B4 over 480m on his second start post comeback.  Ideally drawn tonight in trap 3 with little in the way of early pace on his inside , a level break should be all he needs to ensure the first bend lead which he craves.  The inside pair shouldn’t be back running him , Dotty Dot had no excuses when taking up the lead rounding the last two turns last time out before finishing tamely , Zero Wood looked a strong running four bend bitch in Ireland but has been folding tamely in trials here so far whilst she’s far from guaranteed a run in this whilst Frosties Emma always gives her rivals a chance with her wide running tactics.  Away and gone for Micks £100 win.

Don Henley:

Unkind Hands: (R8 T6) breaking isn’t the strongest weapon that Unkind Hands possesses but if he can produce one of his better start’s he can use his customary early dash to soon scoot clear.  The majority of tonight’s realistic competition all prefer to lead to show their best so a first bend lead for Unkind Hands should be enough to see him secure victory.  Five time winner in A2 company who has also competed well in top grade , he’s too good to be hanging around in A3 for very long £100 win.

Colin Wilton:

Moscow Mccrow (R5 T3) I didn’t have Mccrow fully wound up for his comeback in A2 and being honest and was delighted to see him dropped to A3 after just one run. I didn’t really have much time to get stuck into him before that run but I’ve got him ready to go for tonight and a smash break is all he needs. £80 win

White Fang (R11 T3) won well in A4 for Lynn Cook last week and though up in class looks destined for a career in top grade and open class company. Can come on again and worth an interest. £20 win

YARMOUTH

Liam Aspin (£45 in profit) going into tonight’s meeting says: “Tonight sees the return of Megan Barnard and George Turner. Megan is looking for redemption after her dodgy performance last time out and George is looking to make a decent profit!

I start tonight off  with Baunfaun Prince (R4 T6). This is still a puppy coming forward for Paul Burr and his last two runs have both been rough rides. Tonight the racing manager has relented slightly and given him a chance to get around the first bend clear and show what he’s got. Trap 5 has only had 8 career starts in which 6 of those have been out of trap 3 and 2 in trap 4 so I’m expecting her too edge in on the run up giving Baunfaun Prince a solo out wide. £50 Win

My final pick of the evening goes Hardwood Jef (R9 T3). Pre-lockdown this dog was regularly breaking the 29 second barrier and tonight he looks set to do so again. He has comfortably the most early in the race,  that should take him to the front and let him show his true colours. £50 Win

George Turner

George’s first selection is Black Mystery (R2 T5). He said: “She is a sister to our Yarmouth Derby finalist Mary Goodnight. She wasn’t seen too best effect in a D1 last time out and back to four bends, could have too much coming home for these. £50 Win

For his second pick of the evening George goes for Hartwood Mustang (R6 T3). George said: “He is closely matched with the five on last weeks run, but only his third run at the track. Still coming forward, he can lead from the lids and make a winning move. £50 win

Megan Barnard

Megan’s first choice of the evening is exactly the same as George’s Black Mystery (R2 T5). Megan says: “Her chances really are crystal clear and given a smooth run around surely wins. £50 win

For Megan’s final pick she’s gone for the last race on the card, Notouttheway (R12 T3). This is a pup really flying for John Mullins. I know the kennel think a lot of him (and his brother Detroit!) and surely if he can negotiate his way around a tricky draw outside of Sporting Cossack in trap 2, then he’ll be the certain winner. £50 win
