Pat Dalton’s Tradition easily set the standard in the Track Bookmakers Marathon over 1010 yards at Harolds Cross on Friday.
The daughter of Droopys Scolari and TV Trophy victory Flying Winner drew clear from the second turn and went on to slam Kearneys Lila by 15 lengths in 57.58sec.
In contrast TV Trophy winner Ballymac Bonnie was almost a second slower than Tradition on the opening lap and got over 25 lengths behind at one stage before landing the second qualifier.
Liam Dowling’s bitch came from last to first to pick up long-time leader Vulturi and score by three quarters of a length in 58.50sec.
John Doyle’s Kiltrea Rachel caused a surprise in the opening qualifier when leading all of the way to hold TV Trophy finalist Ribble Atom by a head in 58.20sec.
Ballymac Bonnie’s trainer Liam Dowling was also on the mark in the semi-finals of the Deegan Kennel Supplies Gold Collar over 550 yards when Amanita Chic scored.
The Leeview Jet bitch led at halfway to score a length and a half victory over Newbridge Oaks winner Skywalker Rossa in 30.14sec, the fastest of the round.
Tommy Bolton’s Master Moroney justified 5-4 favouritism in the last heat when just lasting home to beat House Doctor by a short head in 30.25sec.
Jerry Griffin’s stayer Morning Music finished strongly in the opening qualifier to deny long-time leader Curryhills Bob by a length in 30.26sec.
