Kevin Boothby has rescheduled Towcester’s first major Saturday night meeting to avoid a clash with the Star Sports/ARC/LPS Greyhound Derby.

The original plan was stage a huge gala meeting on Saturday April 18, which would have been in direct conflict with the Derby second round.

He said: “I have had feedback from a number of owners who are keen to have runners here on the first big night but may also be involved in the Derby. So, the best solution to avoid any conflict is to push back the big meeting to Saturday May 23rd – which is a week after the final. But we are still planning to stage regular Friday meetings well before then, probably starting towards the end of April.”

Work on the racing circuit is still on schedule – as was witnessed last week by Julie Collier and the RPGTV cameras – with the promoter confident of staging the first trials next Friday. The GBGB are due to visit, and hopefully approve the track for re-licensing, on March 9.
