A bizarre dead heat was the stand-out event on the Ladbrokes Puppy Derby undercard at Monmore on Saturday writes Floyd Amphlett.
The first two home in the recent Greyhound Star Marathon Final, Goldies Hotspur and Aayamza Breeze were inseparable after 835m – all of which created a dilemma for Andy Pelley (third left).
Not only does he own Goldies Hotspur outright, but he is a member of the Aayamzaboys Syndicate with Nigel Smith, owners of Aayamza Breeze. Fortunately, Andy had chosen this particular night for a family outing and three generations of the Pelley family were happy to line up for the presentations.
(On hand to present the trophy was former Ladbrokes Head of Stadia Richard Brankley who was due to have his smile surgically removed later in the evening following Wales victory in the Six Nations.)
