BET365 Northamptonshire Sprint Semi Finals

Three semi finals of the Bet365 Northamptonshire Sprint head the usual Sunday afternoon open card at Towcester today.

Mark Wallis’s Quarteira heads the ante post betting with the sponsors at 2/1 and heads into semi final 3 today off the back of a quite stunning first round victory which saw him beat off Singaporeslinger by 6 1/2 lengths in a flying 1544.  The time was just 2 spots off the current track record held by Flashing Willow set in June 2022 and outlines perfectly the level of form last years Scurry Gold Cup Champion is currently in.  Belinda Green’s 2023 National Sprint Champion Bombout Bullet is second in the ante post betting at 5/1 but will need step livelier away from the traps than when arguably a lucky qualifier from his heat when taking advantage of crowding in front of him to come through and take third place.  There’s no denying though that he’s an incredibly fast performer and from a decent make up on the rail he’s a danger to all with a break.

Tony to land Sheffield Maiden Final for team Hodson

A twelve race card at Sheffield this afternoon, the first 8 of which are of the open variety.

The main event of the afternoon is the £600 to the winner Owlerton Stadium Maiden Final at 2.39pm and can go the way of Kelly Hodson’s Choctaw Tony.  Much the best off the front he’s a six time winner since arriving at Sheffield with the last three of those victories coming in top grade here at Sheffield.

A poor start cost him in last week’s heat but he was far from disgraced and if finding his trapping boots today he can land the spoils.
