Head For Gold (Head Bound-Dalcash Nadine, Feb 12) recorded the fastest time at Yarmouth since last year’s East Anglian Derby on Monday night.
The Paul Whitwood trained black, beaten in his seven previous graded races, clocked 27.48 for the 462 metres. The only three dogs to better that last year were Leamaneigh Turbo (27.20), Swift Keith (27.32) and Jaytee China (27.44). Gold’s personal best came in his 38th race over course and distance, though he isn’t really a four bend specialist having won opens over 659m at Yarmouth all the way up to 692m at Henlow.
