The Punters Challenge debut of Sam and Martin, representing Derby sponsors Star Sports, verged somewhere between ‘outstanding’ and ‘showing off’.
Not only did they lump £25 of their stake on 8-1 Coral Regency winner Tyrap Dragi, they backed it up with £50 on 5-2 chance Goldies Seb. That stacks up to a total profit of £325 – by far our biggest win to date.
As for the others, well . . . David . . . David . . . David. Yes, you Mr Lawrence! You can be forgiven for missing out with your two selections with, Droopys Missouri and Karlow Turbo, the latter was particularly unlucky. BUT you put us all away on two dogs you jointly own (Forest Con/Ballymac Manix) – one of which equalled the track record!!! Consider yourself as training with the U21s for the Kinsley leg. You would be cleaning the boots of the Under-16 squad if we had one!
There is a tale of woe for the media’s representative Steve ‘Nasher’ Nash, who DID pledge £60 of his stake on Forest Con when the dog was trading at 11-10 earlier in the day. Sadly the SP return of 4-6f brought a mere £30 profit. There was another sob story when his ‘£10 value’ punt Houdini Lee was short headed at 5-1. The third selection was of course the unlucky Aayamza Breeze. Nasher has a sick note from his mum for the Gymcrack meeting in a fortnight, and is replaced by ‘Hobbsy’ – so famous he only needs the one name!
It was also a blank night for the trainer’s rep – Trixie Rosney who was unable to find a second leg to go with Forest Con (the track record holder jointly owned by Dave Lawrence!!). Pat’s starting place is currently under review – we will take offers in the transfer window!
