Larry Dunne’s runner went clear off the second turn to beat ante-post favourite Boylesports Duke by two and a half lengths in 32.71sec.
Night of Stars 600 winner Ballyhooley Henry was successful in the last qualifier when leading from trap to line hold Mustang Noplan by a length in 32.89sec.
Graham Holland had a 1-2 in heat two when his Notorious Ben got the better of a battle with Hovex Blade by half a length in 32.79sec.
Holland’s strongly fancied Jo Jo Fantasy was surprisingly eliminated from the opening heat after early trouble.
The race resulted in a dead-heat between litter brothers Newlawn Luke, a 16-1 shot and Newlawn Simon (5-2), who crossed the together line in 32.82sec.
