Pelaw Grange trainer Colin McKitten enjoyed an excellent weekend home and away. The Houghton-le-Spring handler sent his in from kennel ace Poolie Storm to Sunderland on Saturday for the first round of the William Hill Classic and the dog completed a five-timer with a good victory over Calzaghe George and then he gave November 2013 youngster Run Teddy Run his debut on home sand at Sunday’s meeting and the son of Timor Blue and former McKitten racer Hather For Ma snatched a win in the last stride by a short head in 26.11 for the 435 metres.
Redbrick Brooke made a flying start to her career at Doncaster on Saturday night. Graded on in B2 the bitch was odds-on to make it a winning debut and she did just that, although there were probably one or two hearts in mouths as she got there late to snatch it by half a length in a decent 28.42 for the 450 metres. By the 2011 Irish Derby winner Razldazl George, she is out of former Sheffield top grader Stokette and as a February 2014 whelp time is very much on her side and that of her trainer Jim Johnstone.
Inzane Olly completed a hat-trick of victories for trainer Angela Jones at Pelaw Grange on Saturday by racing away with the Eric Vose Memorial Trophy final. The October 2013 son of Bubbly Olly and Snowball Maddie showed determination to win his heat of the competition with a late run and he was made favourite for the decider, a position he justified by taking an early lead this time and maintaining a strong gallop throughout to take the prize by two and a quarter lengths in 26.04 for the 435 metres.
