As one of the first names that appears with a Google search for ‘greyhound, publications, Britain’ it is no surprise that we get a few bizarre requests and contacts.
This pic pitched up last week with an accompanying letter from Dr Hendrik Snyders, Head of the History Department at the National Museum Boemfontein in South Africa.
The shield had been found in a charity shop in South Africa and Dr Snyder’s department were enquiring whether the piece had any financial or historical value.
Sadly, we had to report a negative to both queries but thought it might raise a smile among any remaining fans from the old Buckinghamshire track – possibly with a few thoughts along the lines of “how on earth. . . .”
