After another track record breaking night from the Irish, the winter ante post favourite Fromposttopillar finally gets his opportunity to show his ability in heat 23.

Boasting a unique racing record of three Category One successes from just 12 races, and a 28.61 solo trial, there will be no greyhound under greater scrutiny in the entire event.

There will also be huge interest in long time second favourite, the British bred Romeo Command, a hound who Derby winning handler Patrick Janssens rates as the fastest he has put a lead on.

Liam Dowling’s Ballymac Joey impressed in a trial here last week and with improvement on the clock likely will surely have to go close.  That said it’s difficult to oppose Patrick Janssens LAUTARO who is not only a quality operator but also hugely at home around this Towcester circuit.  Lautaro to win but Joey is sure to make this a very good race to get the final night of round one underway.

Latest betting: 7-4 Lautaro, 4-1 Hopes Woofwoof, 9-2 Ballkmac Joey, 5-1 Clonden Flash, 6-1 Ivanexile, 14-1 Rooftop Ron

Derby favourite FROMPOSTTOPILLAR gets his campaign underway here and looks sure to take a huge amount of beating. Carrying a wide tag most likely in the belief that his tracking ability will see him safely home is sure to prove beneficial in these early rounds. Will he be able to perform such tactics as the Derby progresses though in against higher quality opposition who will both lead him and don’t stop in front themselves ? Tonight though he can soon dominate and cement his place at the head of the ante post markets.

Latest betting: 1-2 Frompostopillar, 6-1 Droopys Clue, Beepers Lariat, 12-1 Newinn Ranger, 16-1 Fernandes, 20-1 Savana Bailey

Nathan Hunt’s pacey bitch pup DROOPYS FIDGET always looked likely to be well suited to Towcester with some super early paced runs on the card at Romford , Monmore and Sheffield. Having her first sighter of the Derby circuit last week she clocked 2926 on a track rated plus 10. Well capable of coming away better than she did on that occasion she looks plotted up here to ping out and make all.

Latest betting: 7-4 Droopys Fidget, 7-2 Tullig Raven, 4-1 Cochise, 8-1 Burf Khalifa, Frosties Fella

Patrick Janssens ROMEO COMMAND looked a talented sort whilst trained in Ireland by Graham Holland but also looked s dog that would be beaten in races he should win due to a lack of early and a knack of finding trouble in running. Since arriving in England though he’s not looked back with a number of exceptional performances lacking nothing either in the way of early pace cementing him as a top contender for outright Derby honors. He won’t be big odds but should get up and running with a comfortable success.

Latest betting: 4-7 Romeo Command, 9-2 Mr Chelm, 8-1 Doghouse Dazzler, 16-1 Miami Patrol, 20-1 Milton Noah, Who Needs Wings

The inside pairing of Bubbly Apache and Deelish Frankie will likely dominate the betting but it might well be worth investing in the well drawn BOCKOS PALACE.  She does lack a bit of early but should get a fair run to the back straight at which point she can begin to move through the gears.  With Apache and Frankie looking like they very well could come together the path may well be clear for Kevin Boon’s bitch to power home in front.

Latest betting: 2-1 Deelish Frankie, 3-1 Bubbly Apache, 7-2 Barrley Panther, 5-1 Bockos Place, 2o-1 Kaluki

Barry Denny’s BELLMORE LOLA might just steal a cheap lead in a race which is eminently winnable. She’s plenty of decent form around here but her 1 1/2 length second to Distant Podge in a recent trial stake stands out and a similar run would be good enough.

Latest betting: 5-2 Supa Nova, 7-2 Bens Lad, 9-2 Bellmore Lola, 5-1 Longacres Nutty, 6-1 Bombay Zero, 14-1 Freedom Epic

Peter Harnden’s SALACRES SMASHER has really taken the eye in recent weeks with some powerhouse performances.  A trial stake winner here he took off in his final preparation trial with a superb run of 2911 +10.  He’ll need a little luck in running but if he gets it there will be none finishing faster.

Latest betting: 5-2 Ninja Kerry, 3-1 Untold Zloty, 7-2 Long Raven, 6-1 Salacres Smasher, 10-1 Savana Sugar, 12-1 Innfield Billy

Mark Wallis’s ANTIGUA BIGUN loves it around here and once again has a nice draw with which to work from.  He looks a solid bet at what shouldn’t be too prohibitive odds. High wide and handsome he can get the job done to safely progress to round two. Betsys Bullet – Non runner

Latest betting: 6-4 Antigua Bigun, 4-1 Chasing Tommytee, Bubbly Gizmo, 6-1 Chelms Paul, 8-1 Vixons Flyer

Previously in the hands of Robert Gleeson over in Ireland WHYAYE MAN has just the 2 trials on the card with Mark Wallis where a 15.90 sprint was followed up with a 2936 effort over 4 bends.  He definitely gave the impression there is plenty left in the locker and from a nice make up on the inside he looks to only have to clear My Girl Mia to get his Derby campaign off to the perfect start.

Latest betting :6-4 Whyaye Man, 9-4 Antigua Sugar, 7-2 My Girl Mia, 8-1 Late Bolger, 20-1 Caseys Tommy

Barry Denby’s dogs are in good form presently and he can pull off an upset with his lightly raced LEIGHAS DREAM.  This lady has some really decent splits on the card at Nottingham including a 4.98 which should mean she’s capable of knocking a huge chunk off the 436 posted in her trial here when recording an overall time of 29.45.  She can lead here with a break looks like she could represent a huge bit of value.

Latest betting: 7-4 Goldies Perryman, 2-1 Stevie Knows, 5-1 Coolavanny Fort, 10-1 Broadstrand Noah, 14-1 Leighas Dream, 16-1 Bales Legacy

Patrick Janssens SLICK SAKINA is a competition bitch of the very highest order. Patrick must have been delighted when she dropped in season early in February for that now puts her just over the 16-week mark. She trialled well last time off an excellent split and can land the final heat of round one in style.

Latest betting: 5-6 Slick Sakina, 4-1 Droopys Google, 9-2 Ballyhimikin Leo, 12-1 Pepinstep, 16-1 Wrighty, 25-1 God Bless
