Aayamza Royale took eight spots off Savana Volcano’s 915m track record as the highlight of the Perry Barr undercard, though it looks as though she left a lot more than that on the track.
Having clocked 29.44 over the Derby course at Towcester, it was no surprise when she took the least before the 480m split. But the switch to four bends was clearly on her mind as she anticipated the hare stopping at the pick-up and pricked her ears as she checked.
There was also another sensational run by January puppy Crossfield Dusty as she equalled her ‘second fastest ever over course and distance’ in the final of the sprint competition.
Meanwhile, the similarly aged and beautifully bred Signet Denver signaled 2022 intent with a 28.28 run in the puppy decider giving both the Janssens and Hutton kennels encouraging doubles on the night.
