Marathon Queen Roxholme Magic is due to trial at Yarmouth on Saturday night with a tilt at the TV Trophy on the agenda.
Hayley Keightley’s white and black has not raced since March and is returning from a seasonal break.
Assistant trainer Mark Keightley said: “She has taken ages to come back from season. She is 20 weeks out now but had milk until she was around 17 weeks out. It has been a nightmare.
“But she impressed me in a trial on the schooling track. She wasn’t at her very best, but it was still very encouraging. If she goes well tonight, we will run her in the marathon on the Derby final night. At 843m it is a bit short of what we would like, but I would still expect her to make a good account of herself.”
Magic, who will be five in December, has won 16 of her 21 races and is the track record holder at Hove (930), Kinsley (844), Wimbledon (894) and Crayford (1,048). She has only been beaten once in excess of 730m – in the 2015 Television Trophy Final.
Mark added: “Towcester isn’t really her track but we won’t let them down. Fingers crossed we’ll be there.”
The Colussus Bets TV Trophy takes place on November 18th and 29th.
