Thursday’s Sunbets 71st East Anglian Derby Final has more angles than a bag of 50 pence pieces.

There is the double entry for Paul Young including the 2016 runner-up Bubbly Turbo and the same year’s top juvenile.

There is a double entry for Norfolk handler Kevin Boon. His runners include one of the two English Derby finalists in the line-up’ the other is the recent Peterborough Derby winner Hiya Butt.

Last but not least, there is the opportunity for a 12th victory in the event for the uncrowned King Of Yarmouth Charlie Lister OBE.

The first semi final saw another flawless performance from Hayley Keightley’s Hiya Butt (Hondo Black-Hather For Pat, Sep 13). The black 11-10f went from trap one off a 5.37 sectional to win his sixth consecutive race.

He would be followed home by Knockard Spring (T2 6-1) and Murrys Act (T6 11-4). Joint second favourite Forest Chunk ran from three. The winner’s time was 27.74 (+10), and the distances three and a quarter and one and three quarters.

Drawn three and off a flying 5.33 sectional, the 9-2 chance got home by three and a half lengths in 27.76. Newinn Shadow (T6 7-2) was a length and three quarters third.
