As the William Hill Greyhound Derby approaches the standard of trial stakes moves up a notch and there are eight such races at Wimbledon tonight with several ‘serious’ contenders taking part over 480 metres.

Oaks winner Domino Storm can take the opening division and see off the likes of Kent and Yarmouth Derby winner Do It For Twiggy and Charlie Lister’s Teds Last.

Eclipse finalist and Towcester Invitation winner Blackstone Marco can prove too strong for Gymcrack winner Stay Loose and Roxholme Barkley in division C.

Impressive Arc winner Ballymac Brogan is fancied to take Division K.

Seamus Cahill’s runner, the winner of the 2014 Juvenile Championship, can prove too good for a quality field including Calco Flyer and last week’s impressive 28.32sec trial stake winner Old Joe Golden.

Old Joe Golden’s handler Charlie Lister can get on the score sheet with Cloran Paddy in the last division.

The son of Westmead Hawk is near the top of the ante-post lists for the Derby after impressing in races at Sheffield and Nottingham.

Wimbledon is a different ball game, although if he is to go close to winning the Derby, he should easily take this in his stride.

Selected Derby ante-post best odds:

33 Cloran Paddy, 50 Roxholme Barkley, 80 Ballymac Brogan, 100 Stay Lucky, 150 Domino Storm
