It’s a race without a distance – at least not officially, yet.

The British Greyhound Breeders Forum Puppy Cup gets underway at Towcester on Sunday and will be the first races to take place over the new 470 metre trip.

GBGB senior steward Paul Illingworth is due to attend the track this evening and will test and hopefully sign off the new trip. The traps themselves will be fine, they’ve already hosted an English Derby Final. A brand new set of identical boxes are due to be fitted for the 500m start.

The event itself, originally scheduled for 36 runners has been reduced to 24 runners
