Jimmy Wright introduced a potentially exciting pup at Wednesday’s Newcastle trials session. Oakvale Papa, a February 2014 son of Razldazl Rioga and French Katie, went round Newcastle’s 290 metres in 16.88 on his first look at the track.
The time was only 13 spots slower than Walshes Hill’s ‘fastest of year’. Papa was an 18.70 race winner at Shelbourne Park on his last run in Ireland in September. (Catherine Drico’s ‘fastest of year’ is 18.53).
