Two of the big race hopefuls that were part of a Charlie Lister treble at Belle Vue last week are back in Manchester on Saturday writes John Forbes.

Tyrur Caroline, owned by PJ Fahy, who is sponsoring the Oaks and Laurels at the track later this month under the banner of his ECC Timber company, clocked a 27.60 for the 470 metres last time out and she is in trap one in the Belle Vue Ladies open.

And Stay Loose, who looked back to the form that saw him win the Gymcrack earlier in the year when he posted a 27.49 last week, will continue his Laurels preparations in another Belle Vue Standard.

Jaytee Firefly and Market Set Up shared the honours in Monday’s busy trial session at Belle Vue ahead of the start of the ECC Timber Oaks and Laurels.

The Paul Young-trained Jaytee Firefly set the standard with a 27.72 for the 470 metres, but that was soon equalled by Elaine Parkers’ Market Set Up and both bitches are likely to contest the Oaks.

Face The Blade, who was brought down in his semi-final of the Henlow Derby last month, showed no ill effects as he posted a 27.78 and looks set for a tilt at the Laurels.
