Barnfield Panda completed a six-timer when landing the final of the Texacloth Puppy Derby over 525 yards at Newbridge on Friday.

Pat Buckley’s runner went to traps the 6-4 favourite and was soon at the head of affairs.

In what was almost an action replay of the semi-final, Southern Oaks runner-up Badminton Rossa came flying at the finish but the favourite still had a length and a half to spare at the line and clocked 28.47sec.

The son of Taylors Sky, who is a September 13 whelp, is now likely to go for the race formerly known as the Irish Puppy Derby at Harolds Cross.

This year, with the track fearing the race wouldn’t fill, have extended the entry to include greyhounds aged 25 months old.

Therefore it is not a puppy race and has been renamed the Dublin Coach Juvenile Derby and it gets underway over 525 yards next Friday night. Entries close on Tuesday.
