The return of Oxford Stadium may have take a step closer according to a report in the Oxford Mail.

As suggested in the article, the result of the viability study was vital to the council – who voted unanimously against a housing development submitted by former owners Galliard Homes – if they are to pursue a compulsory purchase order on the site.

Former Oxford GM Mick Hardy said last week: “I was chatting so someone at Oxford recently and he was saying, the place is still in great order. Although it would never be that simple, you would think that they could race again with a bit of a tidy up.

“I have always thought that it was a great location for a stadium. The local MP lives on the Blackbird Leys estate and there is huge local support for it. I always liked the place.”
