Apache Kid (Head Bound-Story Time, Mar 15) proved that his heat win in the Doncaster Maiden Trophy was no fluke with another stunning performance to land the £500 on Wednesday.
As revealed last week, a hefty gamble in the heats resulted in the Ben McBride trained British bred returning the fastest time in five years for Doncaster’s 483m.
With Dorotas Vic (5-4) in the line-up the layers were happy to offer a similar SP of 5-4 for the stripes.
The Brian Turner owned black not only beat the favourite by a comfortable four lengths, he shaved five spots off his previous best to record 29.08.
It was just one spot outside Yorkshire’s track record which was set in July 2007.
