Pinpoint Maxi led the way as Kelly Macari continued to fine-tune her kennel stars for the big races to come in Thursday’s trial session at Newcastle writes John Forbes.

The 2013 Classic winner breezed along the 290 metres on Tyne side in a highly satisfactory 16.85, while kennelmates Conna Trigger and Pinpoint Finas clocked 17.09 and 17.18 respectively.

Fastest over the 480 metres was an interesting youngster that has joined Jimmy Wright’s kennel called Droopys Vodka. A September 2013 son of Droopys Scolari and Droopys Forces, he posted a 29.00 for the trip.

Vodka is a brother to Ninja Diva (formerly Droopys Spritzer) who is currently turning heads in her qualifying trials at Poole.
