A Charlie Lister treble was the highlight of Thursday’s batch of William Hill English Greyhound Derby Trial Stakes over 480 metres at Wimbledon.

His Old Joe Golden, who impressed the previous week with a 28.32sec effort (calc), again looked good when making all in Division K to beat Ballymac Darragh by almost three lengths in a joint quickest 28.55sec (-10).  Arc winner Ballymac Brogan was fourth.

Lister was also on the mark in a scrappy Division C with Gymcrack winner Stay Loose, who beat Blackstone Marco by three quarters of a length in 28.93sec.

His Stay Loose completed the treble in Division R when leading at the opening turn to hold Rio San Marino by a length in 28.64sec.

Lister’s Cloran Paddy, just 33-1 for the Derby, was one of the night’s disappointments when he found plenty of trouble in a race that went to Seamus Cahill’s all the way winner Cork Falcon who did 29.00sec.

Mark Wallis’s Oaks winner Domino Storm was joint-quickest in Division A when she passed pace-making Geelo Storm on the second turn and went on to score by just over a length in 28.55sec.

Kevin Boon’s Farneys Cookie overcame plenty of trouble in Division U to record 28.93sec, while John Geddis’s Be Up Front rode an early bump in division D before scoring in 28.94sec.

Ninja Diva led from start to finish for Jo Burridge in division H to record 28.78sec.

In trials racing Lowther Stakes winner Forest Twilight clocked 16.19sec for 273 metres.

Charlie Lister’s Coolavanny Pat recorded a fastest 28.67sec for 480 metres.
