Arkady and Burnchurch Mick are both trading at 5-2 on the morning of the PGR Kent Derby Final.

First staged in 2000 and won by Derek Knight’s Smoking Bullet, the event has an impressive Roll of Honour and has been target by three of tonight’s finalist trainers.

Tony Collett picked up the 2006 decider with Carlin Honcho, and the ’09 final with Lenson Bolt. Mark Wallis won it with Jazz Apollo in 2011. Patrick Janssens picked up the 2017 decider with 12-1 shot Bockos Alfie and again with Kilara Lion in 2020. To date there is no Kent Derby on David Mullins’ CV, and he will be particular keen to remedy that following the defeat of last year’s favourite Brookside Richie.

The 2022 decider is the richest on record and features previous Cat One winners in Burnchurch Mick (Winter Derby) and Hopes Paddington (East Anglian Derby).

On semi final form, Arkady is the one to beat, but the decider features four railers and two middle seeds, hence the openness of the betting.

5-2 Arkady, Burnchurch Mick, 10-3 Hopes Paddington, 7-1 Clairekeith Remy, 12-1 Romeo Top Gun, 14-1 Lizs Legacy
