Liz McNair was again the trainer to follow in the William Hill Greyhound Derby Trial stakes over 480 metres at Wimbledon on Saturday.

McNair sent out a treble when her Coolemore Joe, Diego Flight and Fire Height Tosh all obliged.

Coolemore Joe, the 6-4 favourite for Division T was led to halfway by My Real Mutley but went on to score by a length and a quarter in 28.56sec.

Fire Height Tosh, the 5-4 favourite for Division R just made the first bend in front and went on to score a two length victory over American Werwolf in 28.59sec.

Diego Flight, an 11-4 chance for perhaps the main race of the night, Division G, had some bigger names behind him.

The 8-13 favourite was Easter Cup winner Sidarian Blaze, but he found the trouble spots. It was Laurels winner Jordans Brianna who flew out and six lengths clear at halfway. Meanwhile Sidarian Blaze wasn’t fluent at the start and got a real bump at the opening turn.

Jordans Brianna went wrong approaching the third turn and Sidarian Blaze ran straight into him, which allowed Diego Flight to go round the outside and go on to beat Jaytee Osprey by eight lengths in 28.73sec.

Swift Kidman clocked the fastest time of the night in Division P. Maria Collins’s bitch led around the opening turn and went on to beat Coolavanny Ester by two and a half lengths in 28.46sec.

Ninja Turbo was a shock 10-1 winner of Division V when forcing his way through at the turn and eventually holding off the favourite Iceman Frank by a length in 29.00sec.

Bubbly Gold won his first race for nearly ten months when taking Division D. Paul Young’s Arc finalist came though at the third turn to score by almost four lengths from El Flutter in 28.78sec.

Sidarian Blaze’s handler Graham Holland had better luck in Division O when his Millbank Stevie gave a start and a three quarter length beating to King Alley in 28.78sec.

Kevin Hutton’s Taranis Bolt made every metre in Division G to hold off the late flourish of Coolruss Alpha by a length and a half in 28.58sec.
