All eyes were on Kerry over the weekend with the final of the €11,000 Ballymac & Petworld Juvenile Classic from Tralee.

The very worthy winner – and even money favourite – was Liam Dowling’s Ballymac Marino.

The 80 pound black went unbeaten through the four round event with aggregate winning distances of almost 25 lengths and the 21 month old was just six spots outside Ballinabola Ed’s track record in the final. Among Marino’s littermates is Ballymac Archer who was winning a heat of the Queen Mother Cup at Sheffield on the same night.

At Derry, Mineola Fortress clocked the fastest 500 clock of the year to date. At Newbridge Boylesports Coco produced the outstanding performance in the unraced stake with a 28.60 run.

Look out too for a fabulous run from Ballymac Johnjo with a 32.32 for Limerick’s 600 yards – the fastest clocking over course and distance since Skywalker Logan’s 32.30 recorded back in 2018.
