There are plenty of staying races on offer this week starting with Jaytee Angel winning the Carroll Memorial over 620 at Dundalk in 33.83, just 11 spots slower than Droopys Acrobat’s fastest time in 2016. (There was also an excellent 400 from Knight Emperor on the same card).
Meanwhile the talented Droopys Smasher made an impressive six bend debut over 725 yards at Kilkenny, quicker even than the talented Airmount Tess. Going slightly shorter in trip, Highview Dude recorded the fastest 575 for a couple of years at Lifford; Benro Mickey did something similar for at Newbridge and Sellout Magic won the Dowling Memorial over 570 at Tralee.
Elsewhere, Beannacht Tagdh was narrowly the fastest heat winner of the Riverside Oscar Stake at Cork with a 28.20 run, Clonbrien Hero went fastest in the first round of the Produce Stakes at Clonmel.
Over shorter trips still, Raise A Glass improved on his best time of the year with a 19.11 run for 350 yards at Enniscorthy, Getting Out did something similar at Longford, though Eskes Glory’s fastest 525 of the year at the same track gets the nod in view of his age.
Look out too for a particularly impressive sprint by October pup Compression Suit at Mullingar.
