Rural Hawaii landed his second major race of the year when landing the ECC Timber Champion 550 Final over 550 yards at Shelbourne Park on Saturday.
Graham Holland’s runner, who landed the Race of Champions at Tralee last month, made the first turn in front of Skip Glory on his outside and went two lengths clear down the far side.
Frances O’Donnell’s Skip Glory came again up the home straight but Rural Hawaii still had three quarters of a length in hand of his rival. The winning time was a moderate 30.09sec.
J. Fahy’s Tyrur Tommy went quicker in the following race when leading all the way to beat Offshore Bound by two and a half lengths in 29.74sec.
Best over 525 yards was Graham Holland’s Sidarian Vega, who passed the early leader Coolykereen Fire at halfway to score by five and a half lengths in 28.61sec.
